EF Guilin

Guilin is regarded in China as the country’s most picturesque city and ranks second on China’s list of the 10 best tourist destinations. Two crystal-clear rivers meander through the city, which is encircled by mountains with unusual and bizarre rock formations and caves.
Guilin’s first inhabitants arrived during the Qin Dynasty over 2,000 years ago. The city was named after the fragrance of Osmanthus tree, which is native to the area. Guilin prospered and flourished in Tang, Song, Ming, and Qing Dynasties under the patronage from succeeding Emperors. It is currently home to 12 ethnic nationalities with a total population of 1,260,000 in the city and surrounding area.
The center’s staff is comprised of a Center Manager (CM), Director of Studies (DOS), native speaking English Teachers (ET), Chinese Teaching Assistances (TA), and support staff. Together we have created an environment that is fun. Our school encourages learning, assess progress, and measures proficiency.
We are mainly a kids school 1/3 of our students are between 3 – 6 years old, another 1/3 are between 7 – 11 years old. The rest of our students are between 12 – 40 years old, a very small percentage of which are considered adults.
When you commit to and sign a 12-month contract with us, we will provide the following, 10 paid public holidays, 2 weeks (10 working days) paid personal holidays, 3 Sick Days, a furnished apartment suitable for westerners, insurance coverage. A bonus of ¥500.00 is available for high retention rates of your classes from one level to the next. Another ¥100.00 bonus is available for recruiting new students to our school.
Salary levels for teachers are different from one part of a country to another. It is true in the U.S. and it is true in China. A doctor living in New York makes more money than the same doctor living in Kansas does. In Guilin China, a salary of ¥5,500 - ¥7,000 RMB per month provides a good living. Most of the teachers here can save about a third to half of their income each month.
Work schedules change from time to time however, you will always have 2 consecutive days off. The workload is easy and enjoyable, we work 40 hours per week during non-peak months and 48 hrs per week during peak months.
