Saudi Arabia jobs: For those teachers watching the 'Serious Teachers' job board, I would probably avoid those recruiters who advertise Dubai as being in Saudi Arabia. They have clearly never looked at a map of the region. The attention to detail of some of these recruiters is quite poor, so all I would say is be careful. Also remember that you will NOT be able to leave the country, open a bank account OR obtain a sim card without a residency permit, so you'll be stuck and unable to leave the country for the best part of 3 months on average. Naturally, no recruiter will tell you this. Go in with your eyes open and ask LOTS of questions. That's what recruiters are there for!

Hi Seraphina, those are good points you've made. Are you a recruiter? The jobs that are worth their salt are generally direct hire. Otherwise, many of the companies are simply contractors that cut as many corners as possible. For example, not paying for Ramadan or a safe compound for their teachers.

Exiting the country will depend on what legal documents you have for being in the country. I'm on a multi-entry visa and have had no problems going in and out of the country even a couple of weeks after I first got here. If your company can secure you a Government-type visit visa, you have absolutely no worries. However, as you point out, you can't open a bank account unless you have an Iqama (residential permit). I was able to get a sim card with the visa, though. I would advise signing up with a company involved directly with the Saudi government for a (largely) hassle-free stay in the Kingdom.
