ISN’s teacher to student ratio is on average 1:15 and this excellent ratio enables
experienced ISN teachers to conduct an IB based approach to the curriculum. The main
duty of the teacher is to lead their class with excitement and passion for a world standard
education while implementing the inquiry-based approach to instruction. Candidates
should have experience in collaborative leadership, high expectations for faculty, staff,
and all students, and be able to inspire the whole-school. We are proud of our homely

ISN School year: Starts April 1st and ends March 31st
Duties of position: 8:00-16:00 The main tasks and duties of the teacher starts at 8 am by
greeting children who are arriving at school and ends at 4pm. Teachers should arrive
sufficiently early to ‘begin’ teaching at the prescribed starting time and clean and tidy up
the classroom before s/he leaves. The school may arrange an early shift (7:30am start)
to greet children who arrive early. We are open from Monday to Friday. Children will learn
about themselves, people and the world around them in English through the activities we
prepare and by spending almost all day here in ISN. The teachers are responsible for
submitting the weekly plan for each class before the teachers meeting every Friday.
Training and start day: The start date of the position is earliest possible in April, 2017.
The recruited teacher should arrive in Matsumoto few days before the training (5-day
school training from the stated start day 9:00-16:00 1 hour break, paid 5,000 yen per day.
Lunch is provided.) so s/he will have some rest, time to settle down.
Accommodation and other expenses: All foreign and Japanese teachers at ISN have a
direct contract with the local real estate agencies, for furnished/non-furnished flats. In the
case of foreign teachers the school needs to be the guarantee. ISN administration staff
members will help you finding the flat by listening to the teachers preferences from what
is available on the market. They will help the teacher to open the gas, electricity, internet,
water and so on by contacting different companies before the teacher moves in. They
also support the teacher for the first day of the teacher’s arrival and offer you a lift for
shopping (assuming that you’d need big things to start your new life such as bed sets).
All ISN teachers are responsible for their flights and accommodation. For a 50,000 yen
per month flat for example, including the first month rent, the deposit, the cleaning fee
when you are coming in and getting out, the insurance, the commission fees and so on,
the initial cost would be about 200,000 yen. If the teacher needs so, the school offers
financial support at the initial stage. The school can advance the teacher’s deposit for the
accommodation, for example, and it can be deducted from the salary for a few/several
