TESOL Teacher Training Position

Details: TESOL Teacher Training Position in the Republic of Georgia
Georgetown University is partnering with Project Harmony to implement the CETEL
Program which supports civics education through English language instruction in the
Republic of Georgia.
The foreign TESOL working as English Language Teacher Trainers’ (ELTTs) will
support English instruction during a two-year assignment in Georgia. Each year they
will work with 25 teachers with the aim of developing their capacity to master the
content and delivery of the civic education through English language supplementary
approaches and materials. Through this approach, 125 “master“ teachers each year
will gain increased capacity and participate in the testing of new approaches and
models. In most cases the ELTT will work with 1-2 primary level teachers and one
secondary level teacher from the same school, reaching an average of ten schools in
3-5 cities and towns per year. Discussion between the ELTT and the Project
Harmony Team, and consultation with the advisory committee, will determine if an
ELTT covers two regions each year or focuses on one region in the first year and
another in the second year. Although ELTTs will focus most of their energies in Year
2 on the new group of 25 teachers, they will also maintain contact with the graduated
“master“ teachers.
For this project, we are seeking highly qualified educators in the field of TESOL
Teacher Training for two ten-month assignments in Georgia . Project Harmony will provide a return round-trip ticket to the United States between Fellowships.
Responsibilities Include:
• Live and work in an assigned region of Georgia and travel to school sites to
work with teachers
• Give priority focus to 25 teachers per year with the aim of developing their
capacity to master the content and delivery of the civic education through English
language supplementary approaches and materials. This number includes 1-2 primary
level teachers and one secondary level teacher from the same school, reaching an
average of ten schools in 3-5 cities and towns per year.
• Teacher training will primarily focus on CETEL supplementary materials,
increasing student participation, and techniques for effective team teaching and to
help prepare teachers for passing the teacher certification exam.
• Partner with regional English Teacher Association of Georgia (ETAG) offices in
offering and coordinating training and using shared resources.
Additional Benefits:
• Housing allowance: $4,440/12 months ($370/month) with assistance provided
by PH staff in securing housing in your region. Providing the allowance for 12 months
enables to you to maintain your apartment through the summer months when not in
Georgia.
• Georgian based health insurance: full coverage in Georgia via Georgian
Pension and Insurance Holding (GPIH).
• Travel to Georgia: Two round trip tickets will be provided.
• In-Country travel reimbursement: Georgia based travel reimbursement for
performing the duties of the position of up to $1150 for 10 months.
Eligibility Requirements:
• An MA degree with a focus in TESOL or Applied Linguistics
• Two years or more professional TESOL experience
• Experience in the area of American Studies and content-based instruction.
• Teacher training and/or curriculum design experience.

Ⅲ. Job Description
1. Working Hours: Monday to Friday on a semester basis;
2. Teaching Hours: 22 teaching periods per week;
3. Average Class Size: 20-25;
4. Give Lessons including planning and preparation as well as course development;
5. Conduct course assessment and student academic counseling.

Ⅳ. Job Requirements
1. Bachelor's degree or above in education or related majors;
2. Native English speaker or English skills equivalent to native level;
3. At least three years teaching experience;
4. Teaching Certificate, PGCE,QTS or equivalent is preferred;
5. Caring, suitable and safe to work with children.
