LOCATION: University of Bamenda University, ENS Street Bambili
JOB DESCRIPTION:
• Several positions available from 1 to 4 weeks.
• Teach English as a Second Language classes to international high school and
college age students participating in short-term summer group programs
• 15 hours per week; Monday-Friday, 9 am to 12:00 pm
• Arrive in classrooms no later than 8:45 am, ready to begin teaching promptly at 9 am
• Acquaint yourself fully with the AETS program materials and academic program
guidelines
• Attend the Program Teacher training meeting(s) prior to the arrival of students
• Prepare lessons using communicative approach that actively engages students in
learning
• Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and fostering conversation
• Follow and use AETS curriculum
• Create lessons where needed in curriculum, e.g., Slang, Current Events, Role Play
• Enhance or expand AETS lessons to make relevant and interesting to students
• Follow Calendar of Activities to prepare and produce Sightseeing Lesson plans in
timely manner
• Become knowledgeable of major sightseeing attractions in Los Angeles to teach
Sightseeing Lessons and fully engage students in learning
• Report to Lead Teacher
• Cooperate with the Lead Teacher and Center Director to insure an interesting
curriculum and academic program
• Assist when requested with administering student placement entrance exams
• Complete and submit all required curriculum forms, documents and reports in a
timely manner
• Communicate to Ann Fox any problems not resolved or handled by Center Director
or Lead Teacher
• Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelors’ degree from an accredited university. Masters degree preferred
• Previous ESL classroom teaching experience focused on student-centered learning.
Previous tutor experience not applicable.
• Familiar with and knowledgeable of classroom technology
• Cultural sensitivity and ability to work with multi-ethnic groups a must
• Familiarity with area surrounding campus
• Knowledge of activities, social, recreational and cultural events in Los Angeles
• Cell Phone required
• Personal computer required
• Hiring subject to successful completion of training meeting(s)
NOTE:
• Only candidates who have lived or worked in Los Angeles will be considered as
local staff provides added value to students
• BEFORE YOU APPLY: Check the commute distance and route from your home to
this campus. Limited parking at employee’s expense is available on campus. AETS does
not provide for travel expenses
• Must be able to provide proof of ability to work in the U.S
WAGE: $22 per hour
OPERATION DATES: University of Bamenda: July 1 -- July 29, 2016 (4 weeks)
Must be available for MANDATORY training meeting: Saturday, June 11, 2016

safe, educational, and fun short-term ESL summer vacation programs for international
high school and college age students on university campuses. Our students live in
dormitories, attend morning English classes, practice each day’s lessons with afternoon
and evening activities, and enjoy weekend excursions to famous local sites. Bamenda
Education and Travel Services provides on-campus staff to plan, operate and supervise
the programs. Each site is staffed with a Summer Center Director, recreation
