EFL Senior Trainer

Details: Due to an increased project size, CfBT Brunei (part of Education Development Trust) is looking for a further experienced Senior EFL trainer (ST) to join its existing team, working on a new and exciting contract, teaching English to Chinese engineers onsite on the island of Pulau Muara Besar just off the coast north of the capital, Bandar Seri Begawan. Successful candidates will receive an initial 18 month fixed contract.
The successful applicant will be joining a small, dedicated team of Trainers and a Senior Trainer who are supported and supervised by a Training Team Manager. We are seeking a candidate with the ability to work autonomously, as that is what this role will require. Working 5 days a week, delivering up to 20 contact hours of lessons, you will be on site teaching, planning, marking and developing materials.
As an Senior Trainer, you will additionally:
- act as a mentor to trainers with less (in some cases) experience.
- co-lead on team planning in terms of lesson plan, materials, ESP materials and both formative and summative test design.
- be involved in the observation programme as part of your mentoring, with your classes covered on such occasions to facilitate this.
- co-lead on IELTS preparation/and or delivery once students complete our ‘level 5’ (high B1).
The aim of the programme is to take around 800 employees from an estimated beginner/elementary to intermediate level, helping to design and deliver a bespoke English course and getting the workforce confident at speaking and understanding their Bruneian counterparts orally. We need the engineers to be confident in their oral communications as quickly as possible, and then build on those skills to raise their level of English to a good intermediate level. The bespoke ESP delivery and opportunity to learn key aspects of project management will provide you with valuable experience in your career development.

Candidates should be aware that this is a single status contract and no education support for dependents or sponsorship for spouses is available.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will be a native English speaker with a first degree, a CELTA and a DELTA. Consideration will be given to differently qualified (MA TESOL, Applied Linguistics) and suitably experienced candidates. Experience in a Senior Teaching role within EFL and with experience of delivering both ESP and IELTS training are imperative. Experience of Chinese learners is an advantage.
Salary and Benefits
- Tax free remuneration (subject to satisfactory probation and performance):
- Senior Trainer B$3,500 (approx. £2,000) per month, tax-free.
- Contract Completion Bonus of one-twelfth of the total salary paid.
- Mid-term travel allowance of B$1500.

- Baggage allowance of up to B$1000 (this total covers inward and outbound trips)
